What's New at the Zoo?

Kingdoms of the Night:

    The world's larges nocturnal exhibit under the world's largest indoor desert.

        *Wet Cave*

            Explore wet caves with actual growing man-made stalagmites and

            stalactites dripping into a seemingly "bottomless" river. Marvel at the

            bats and giant salamanders who find their home in the wet cave.

        *Dry Cave*

            Wander past the lemurs and enjoy the aroma of the Eucalyptus

            forest home to fresh water crocodiles, free ranging wallabies

            and sugar. Look up to gaze at the 70-foot-tall dry cave!

        *World's Largest Indoor Swamp*

            Suddenly, you'll find yourself in a trapper's cabin to discover the

            sights, sounds and smells of the mysterious swamp. As you creep

            across floating boardwalks you'll find alligators, frogs, beavers,

            muskrats and many others swamp creatures. You'll be amazed at the

            beaver lodge and giant cypress trees. It's like you're in a real Louisiana bayou.

Desert Dome

            Discover amazing desert animals, unique plants and stunning

            exhibits from around the globe in the world's largest indoor desert, the

            Desert Dome, above the world's largest nocturnal exhibit.

Hubbard Gorilla Valley

            The Omaha Zoo gorillas will roam free through their 2-acre valley.

            Visitors will be on display as they walk through the glass tunnel and

            learn how these animals interact-up-close and personal.

 

Imax Theater

    *Feature Films*

            Adventures in Wild California

        (May-June 30 4 P.M.)

                Jump, climb and parachute as the Adventures in Wild California

                will keep you on the edge of your seat. You will fly through the sky,

                climb to the top of the Golden Gate Bridge and swim with otters!

                This action-packed film takes you surfing inside a 265-foot wave, brings

                 you on an aerial landing to a bald eagle's nest and will send you racing

                 down icy slopes with snowboarders.

            Jane Goodalls Wild Chimpanzees

            (May-June 30 11 A.M., 1, 3, & 5 P.M.) & (July 1-Dec. 31 10 A.M.)

                Takes the trip of a lifetime deep into Gombe and across four

                    decades of research to view the world of Chimpanzees as they've never

                    been seen before. Jane Goodall's Dedication to Chimpanzees began more

                    than 40 years ago and has grown into the longest continuously

                    running study of animals in the world.

            Lewis & Clark

        (May-June 30 10 A.M., 12 A.M., & 2 P.M.) & (July-Dec. 31 10 A.M.)

                A North American exploration awaits you! Follow Captains Lewis

                    and Clark through their historical adventure as they lead the way to the

                    newly expanded territory of the United States nearly 200 years ago.

            Coral Reef Adventure

         (July 1-Sept 4 11 A.M., 1,3, & 5 P.M.) & (Sept 5-Dec. 31 12 A.M., 2 P.M., & 4)

                Swim through the most wondrous reefs on the planet and explore

                    unique marine animal behavior in the latest underwater voyage to hit the

                     IMAX screen - Coral Reef Adventure. The stunning photography from

                    tropical locations around the world makes this film like going on

                    a vacation without ever leaving home.

            India Kingdom of the Tiger

        (Sept 5-Dec 31 11 A.M., 1 P.M., 3, & 5)

                    Travel across one of the most incredibly diverse

                    cultural and social fabrics of the world. Come face

                    to face with one of the worlds most intriguing animals,

                    the Bengal tiger. India: Kingdom of the Tiger tells the

                    story of the Bengal tiger's struggle for survival in a land

                    painted by colors, carved by cultures and shaped by

                    customs of over one billion people.

Tram Ride*: $1.50 round trip, or 50 cents per stop.
Stroller Rental: $5.00
Double Stroller Rental: $7.00
Wagon Rental: $8.00.
Wheelchair Rental: Free
Adult Stroller Rental: Free
Wildlife Carousel: $1.00 per ride

  *The train and tram operate every day between Memorial Day and Labor Day, and weekends in April, May, September and October, weather permitting.
  Strollers, wheelchairs, and wagons available on a first come basis only.

From American Family Inn - On Fort Crook Road turn left (Towards North)-after a mile Ft. Crook Rd. will become 13th - Continue on 13th street about 2 miles and turn right when you see sign Henry Doorly Zoo Visitor parking can be seen to the left. Click here for map.

Hours:

 

Open year round except Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day. 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Visitors may stay on zoo grounds two hours after closing or until dusk.
